Photos: Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County

A recent fundraising campaign by the Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County in Washington promised a pet portrait by a volunteer for anyone who donated $15 and provided a picture of their pet.

But the clever promotion came with an important warning (or enticement, depending on how you like to think about these things): “We’re a whole lot better at caring for animals than we are at drawing them.”

The idea was an immediate success, and as volunteers scrambled to keep up with the donations and photos that began pouring in, more than 200 pet-portrait masterpieces were created in just a few days. These are just a few of the perfect pet paintings that, astonishingly, cost only a $15 apiece for animals in need.

These extremely stylish best friends.

This adorable love bug.
