Cooking and baking seem to have a lot of hard and fast rules. And sure, it is helpful to know the “right” way to measure flour, but in this moment it is even more essential to learn how to embrace chaos and blunders in the kitchen.

The way YouTuber Julien Solomita tackles making vegan, gluten-free recipes videos shows that letting go of everything being perfectly planned and precise leaves room for fun to begin. Solomita wholeheartedly embraces the joy and excitement of trying something new with the confidence to change up a recipe and add an extra ingredient — which is precisely the kind of attitude that you need when adapting recipes.

Right now, I don’t have all the ingredients or materials I want to make my wildest cooking and baking dreams come true, but with Solomita as my guide I’ll embrace the situation and continue creating in the kitchen.

This video inspired me to (safely) make veganized pop-tarts and share them with my neighborhood friends
