Hello again my Tenderly friends. It’s Friday!

Another weird pandemic weekend is upon us, but at least now it’s sunny. We wanted to make sure you were aware of the Djungelskog (pictured above), an adorable plush bear from Ikea that is taking the world by storm.

Also, Alicia shared her recipe for a peanut butter tart with chocolate ganache in a shortbread crust and I can’t even type those words without drooling.

Also new yesterday: Arabella shared some terrific ways to use pre-made puff pastry dough for delicious vegan decadence in half the time.

TENDERLY REC ROOM

On Fridays, we tell you about things we like:

“The new Baby-Sitter’s Club series on Netflix far exceeded my expectations! I was a huge fan of the books as a kid (and you know how we feel about Vegetarian Icon Dawn), but I couldn’t have anticipated how thoughtfully this series would update their material while staying true to the heart of managing female friendships and coming of age. One storyline has Mary Anne showcasing trans allyship, another has Claudia learning about her grandmother’s imprisonment in an internment camp. The casting is spot on (especially Alicia Silverstone as Kristy’s mom!) and Claudia’s clothes are, as ever, an absolute inspiration. If you are as into this as I am, check out Tenderly editor Jack Shepherd’s Baby-Sitter’s Club Club podcast (co-hosted by our friend Tanner Ringerud). It’s literally perfect.”Summer Anne

“It is time!! To!!! Stop!! Saying!!!!! Black cats!! Are!!! Bad!!! Luck!!!!! Black cats have actually often been used as symbols of defiance from the Black Panther Party logo to The Industrial Workers of the World’s “Sabo-Tabby,” as this article from Hyperallergic explains.” — Arabella

Emily Gould reminded me to enthusiastically recommend Megababe’s Thigh Rescue for anyone who’s living through a hot summer and has thighs. It’s truly a lifesaver, from a vegan and cruelty free brand (I also use their deodorant!)” Summer Anne

“After wanting to get another cat for a while, my partner and I finally found a shelter in our area doing individual, by-appointment visits and immediately fell in love with little Kosmo here and brought him home ❤ ❤ ❤ If you’re able to safely and responsibly adopt a pet right now, there are plenty of sweeties looking for a forever home who will make your life immeasurably better!!!” — Arabella

WHAT SHOULD YOU EAT?

A vegan recipe recommendation from the Tenderly archives

Jef’s Vegan Chicago-Style Hot Dog: In this unconventional illustrated recipe, Jef Harmatz recreates every aspect of a classic Chicago dog with extra pizazz, like subbing pickled blueberry relish for the neon green variety, and making your own poppy seed buns out of the regular grocery store variety. Tis the season!
