Sometimes A Dog Finds You
Instead of the other way around
There are few pleasures in this world greater than finding a dog to love and bring home.
I was lucky enough to have had one before I was born so my formative years were spent beside an incredibly large furry friend, as though I had my own Clifford with me always.
I had a period after she died where I didn’t have any dogs, until finally one found her way into my home and my life. I wrote about it here.
But, she’s not my only dog. A few years ago another dog ended up living with us as well.
When my brother moved a few years ago, it was to an apartment, and he couldn’t take his dog with him.
So, we decided that his dog should trying living with me and my dog.
At first it was a little nerve-wracking. My dog has spent time with other dogs, but the new guy hadn’t. She’s also massive. Even though she’s a gentle giant, her playing nice can send people flying, let alone another dog. The new dog is a third her size at best.
And he hadn’t been socialized and had some issues with nerves.
It was a rough couple of days, as they were under constant supervision. He reacted a few times, mostly scared as he was in a new home and now shared space with a giant new…
