How to Regrow Your Scallions and Use Them Again and Again

The only thing easier than regrowing scallions is eating them

Scallions, green onions, whatever you call them, these mild flavored onions are an essential ingredient in any kitchen, and also happen to be one of the easiest vegetables to regrow at home.

All you need to get started is:

  • A small jar or cup
  • A few scallions
  • Water

When making a dish with scallions, save a couple with about an inch left at the root end. Add to a small cup or jar of water ensuring the roots are covered, but the cut end of the scallion is still above the water. Make sure your scallions get plenty of sunshine and that the root end stays underwater and soon you’ll see fresh scallions growing out of the cut end.

When the scallions regrow a few inches, you can plant them and continue to grow them, cutting off a few whenever you need them.
