Literally 50 Desserts You Can Make Without Animal Products This Thanksgiving
From apple pie to pumpkin cheesecake to pecan truffles, there is no need to skimp on the sweets for your vegan feast
--
Thanksgiving isn’t necessarily a holiday we associate with desserts — pies being an exception — but that doesn’t mean we should neglect ending our meals on a sweet note. Just as with main dishes and side dishes, vegans can rock the Thanksgiving table with tempting treats that are entirely free of animal products like dairy and eggs. What sorcery is this??? Yes, we’re talking moist, creamy, luscious creations that stand on their own as great desserts, not “good for vegan” recipes with little halos floating above them but not much taste. Gone are the cardboard vegan crusts and tofu-and-powdered-sugar frosting of yesteryear. Today, thanks to the innovation of the chefs and recipe developers I have spotlighted here, we can have our cake and eat it too — as can our uncle who makes fun of vegan food at every opportunity. (Don’t tell him until after he eats it that it was vegan and then watch the look on his face.)
It’s been a delight compiling these recipes. Have a joyous and compassionate Thanksgiving!
