If you google “fly pets overseas,” you’ll quickly be overwhelmed with horror stories.

“My cat died in her crate.”

“My dog’s crate was damaged in flight and caused him a lifelong injury.”

“My cat escaped from his crate and we never found him in the airport.

“They don’t depressurize the hold even if pets are flying.”

If you love your pets, this kind of thing is awful to read. You start thinking of how everything could go wrong, how you’re putting your precious babies at risk, how likely it is that they’re harmed in some way.

As the doting mother of two cats, all these thoughts and worse flew through my mind when I started the process of transporting my cats from York, England, all the way to Atlanta, Georgia.

To save you the worry, I want to tell you that my cats were absolutely fine.

The reason nobody hears the success stories of flying pets is because they’re common. In fact, proportionally more humans die while flying than pets do. Even so, before you fly your pets overseas, even knowing they’ll almost certainly be just fine, there are…
