Dear Maah,

I have a fish bone to pick with you. As you will know from my previous letter, you have amazing, adorable me to live with. I’m the one who guards our home day and night, protecting you from rodents and other scary things. I’m the one who waits for you to come home every day, and rolls on the carpet, showing you my beautiful white furry spot on my belly.

I don’t ask for much. All I wanted was a friend to play with. It is no fun running up and down the stairs by myself. And did you get me one? No!

I could have really used the help of a feline friend to chase the mouse who sneaked into the house last night. I patrolled the house and heard a suspicious sound in the food room. I waited quietly in the dark all night long while you were sleeping upstairs, until he snuck up from the crawl space. He tried to sneak in by the stove. But I pounced on him, Maah.

He got away from me and tried to dive up onto the counter. But I was ready for him. I leapt up there, thrashing my tail. My tail may or may have not knocked over the wine bottle you left on the counter. But it was my good fortune. The mouse got stuck on the sticky floor and I captured him this time! What a great feeling that was.
